New Delhi, July 30, 2026: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh felicitated nine women officers from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force for successfully completing ‘Samudra Pradakshina’, India’s first-ever Tri-service all-women circumnavigation sailing expedition.
The officers undertook the remarkable journey aboard the Indian Army Sailing Vessel (IASV) Triveni, covering nearly 25,500 nautical miles over 314 days across four oceans. Their successful return marks a significant milestone in India’s military history and showcases the growing role of women in the Armed Forces.
During an interaction in New Delhi, Rajnath Singh praised the team’s courage, resilience, and determination, describing the expedition as a shining example of Nari Shakti and the strong jointness and synergy among the three Services. He said the achievement would inspire future generations and reaffirm India’s commitment to empowering women in defence.
The Samudra Pradakshina expedition highlights the capabilities of women officers in undertaking challenging missions while strengthening cooperation between the Army, Navy, and Air Force. It also reflects the Indian Armed Forces’ continued emphasis on adventure, endurance, leadership, and operational excellence.
