Addressing the nation from the Red Fort on 15 August 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced several major initiatives focused on AI, education, sports, civil defence, semiconductors, nuclear energy and women-led development.
Key Announcements
- AI Training for 1 Crore Youth
One crore young people will be trained in Artificial Intelligence skills over the next one year to prepare them for the growing AI economy. - Free Online Coaching for Competitive Exams
The government will create a free online coaching network by bringing together digital infrastructure, teachers and educational resources to help students prepare for competitive examinations without expensive coaching fees. - Sports Talent Hunt for Children
A nationwide talent search will identify promising sports talent among children aged 5 to 15 years in villages, cities and schools. Selected children will receive specialised training. - Modern Civil Defence Network
India will develop a stronger and more modern Civil Defence network to deal with emerging threats to critical infrastructure such as refineries, banks, data centres and factories. - More Semiconductor Plants
The government plans to establish 5–8 more semiconductor plants over the next 7–8 years to strengthen India’s technological self-reliance. - 100 GW Nuclear Power Target by 2047
India aims to achieve 100 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2047 and plans to start five new nuclear reactors during this decade. - 6 Crore Lakhpati Didis
After surpassing the earlier target of 3 crore Lakhpati Didis, the government has now set a new target of 6 crore Lakhpati Didis, aimed at strengthening women’s participation in the rural economy.
