JEE Advanced is a highly competitive engineering entrance exam in India that is conducted annually by any one of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). The purpose of the JEE Advanced exam is to assess the in-depth understanding of concepts and analytical thinking of candidates who wish to pursue undergraduate engineering courses at the IITs, which are considered to be among the most prestigious engineering institutes in India. The JEE Advanced score is also used as a possible basis for admission by Indian applicants to non-Indian universities such as the University of Cambridge. Thus, JEE Advanced is an important exam for students who aspire to pursue a career in engineering.

To be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced, a candidate must first clear the JEE Main exam and be among the top 2.5 lakh rank holders. The exam pattern for JEE Advanced is well-balanced and tests the in-depth understanding of concepts as well as analytical thinking of the candidates through multiple-choice questions, questions with multiple answers, and numerical value questions. The exam is divided into two papers, each of three hours in duration, and covers three subjects – Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The weightage of questions from classes 11 and 12 varies for each subject. Thus, a candidate must have a strong foundation in the subjects and be well-versed in the exam pattern to perform well in JEE Advanced.

Preparation for JEE Advanced requires a well-laid plan, starting with getting a hold of the syllabus and understanding basic concepts. Time management is crucial, and a daily schedule should be drafted to ensure all subjects are covered. Regular practice and solving as many numerical problems as possible are essential to make a strong hold on the concepts. Choosing the right study material and not ignoring NCERT books are also critical in preparing for JEE Advanced. Quality preparation is more important than quantity, and emphasis should be given to understanding the concepts rather than memorizing them [9]. Keeping track of strengths and weaknesses and setting realistic goals can also help in clearing JEE Advanced.
