IGNOU Bachelor Programme. The University offers 40 undergraduate programmes across the major stream rights from Arts, Commerce and Science. It offers courses in management and industry-related courses in commerce section. The university also offers course in the hospitality industry which is a job industry course.

For some of the course, the candidate’s formal education of 10+2 is not required nor does the University demands any percentage for admission. The university offers admission through a bridge course known as BPP.

Bachelor of Arts (General)

The BA programme is on offered in English and Hindi. The student has to opt for a particular medium of study while applying for admission to the programme.

Fee Structure: A total of `7200/- is to be paid for the Bachelor of Arts Programme @ `2400/year. In the First year, in addition to `2400/-, a Registration fee of `200/- also has to be paid. The programme fee should be paid only by means of Debit Card/Credit Card through online mode only. Fee once paid is not refundable.

Psychology courses have a Practicum component. Learners opting for Psychology are required to pay an extra fee of `600/-

Programme Structure

The Bachelor of Arts is a 132-credit programme consisting of the different categories of courses as mentioned below-:

1. Twelve Core courses, four from each of the two disciplines and four language core courses
2. Two Discipline specific electives from each of the two disciplines,
3. Two Ability Enhancement compulsory courses,
4. Four Skill Enhancement courses and
5. Two Generic electives.

The mix of these courses varies in each of the six semesters. However, a total number of credits to study in each semester is 22 credits.

B.A.(Hon.) History has fourteen Core courses of six credits each. The course has the six semesters of your programme.

Alongside four Discipline Specific Elective courses are offered to the students in the fifth and the sixth semesters. Together these core courses and the discipline-specific electives offer a basic perspective on Indian, Far Eastern, European and Environmental histories.

The idea behind these courses is that the students develop a historical sense that they can build on in their post-graduate years. The University also offer this programme Generic Elective courses which are interdisciplinary in nature and these would help the students in their study of history by placing the discipline of history in the context of wider social sciences.

Currently, the University is specifying the generic electives you have to take in the first four semesters. Ability Enhancement courses are offered in the first four semesters which develop a practical and vocational perspective. (Please see the list of courses we have given for this.)

About the Programme

The Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology consists of fourteen major core courses of six credits each, completed over six semesters. You can expect each core course to include two practical or tutorial application credits. Finally, four subject-specific electives are offered in the fifth and sixth semesters. These courses provide students with the opportunity to study behaviour and individual differences, lifespan psychology, behaviour in social contexts, applications of psychology in various fields, and the study of psychology from different perspectives.

The interdisciplinary general electives University offer in this program place the study of psychology within a broader social studies context and can support learners in their graduate education. In these courses, learners also gain knowledge about the subject of psychology

At present, the University is specifying the generic electives that are to be opted in the first four semesters. Skill based courses are offered in the third and fourth semesters, which again are from different discipline.

The programme is unique and innovative in many respects with the following features:

Students without a formal qualification of 10+2 or its equivalent can also seek admission

Student can study at his own pace and convenience over a period of 3 to 8 years.

Student also gets basic knowledge in the core areas of Humanities, Social Sciences, Computers and Science & Technology as there are some compulsory foundation courses.

As there is a minimum component of application-oriented courses, the student is exposed to vocational/professional expertise.

Students have the opportunity to develop skills in computers by selecting computer courses.

Besides elective courses in commerce, there is flexibility to choose courses from a wide range of other disciplines.

Teaching is done through an innovative multi-media.

A student of another University can seek admission to this programme on the basis of credits obtained by him/her from that University. A student, thus admitted need not write the IGNOU examination for such courses which are found equivalent to ours

Category A – Direct entry

• 10+2/equivalent based on merit of physically fit candidates.
• The University provides reservation of seats as per Government of India rules.
• There will be a personal interview at the regional center prior to selection of candidates. The Regional Director, in consultation with the Programme Coordinator, will conduct the interview.
• Candidates will be selected on the basis of personal interview, during which a candidate will be judged on the following:

Appearance, ability to communicate, attitude, mental alertness, general awareness. Each of these shall carry maximum of 10 marks. The candidate is required to secure at least 25 out of 50 to qualify.

Category B Sponsored Admission

The sponsor is allowed to nominate employees, who have passed +2/equivalent, from their retail organisation. The sponsor will submit a letter on the company’s letterhead issued by a competent authority along with an individual application form of the candidate nominated with the programme fee through a Demand Draft drawn in favour of IGNOU payable at New Delhi.
Candidates will deposit fees only after selection.

This Programme is offered in a modular approach. On completion of the year only, you get a Diploma in Retailing (DIR). On completion of the second year, you get an Advanced Diploma in Retailing (ADIR), and on completion of the third year, you get a BBA degree. The programme is offered once, in July every year. There’s a three-month internship in the first year and on-the-job training in the IInd and third years.

B. A. Economics (Honours) is BAECH. This programme is of 148 credits. The distribution of credits under the different type of courses is as follows:

i) Core Courses (CCs): 14 courses of 6 credits each (i.e. 84 credits)
ii) Discipline Specific Electives (DSEs): 4 courses of 6 credits each (i.e. 24 credits)
iii) Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AECCs): 2 courses of 4 credits (i.e. 8 credits)
iv) Skill Enhancement Courses (SECs): 2 courses of 4 credits (i.e. 8 credits)
v) Generic Electives (GEs): 4 courses of 6 credits each (i.e. 24 credits)

The programme can be completed in a minimum period of three years (six semesters) or in a maximum period of six years. A credit is equivalent to 30 hours of study time. This comprise all learning activities (i.e. reading and comprehending the print material, listening to audios, watching videos, attending counselling sessions, teleconferencing and writing assignment responses). Most courses of this programme (CCs, DSEs and GEs) are of six credits. This means that you will have to put in 180 hours (6 × 30) of study time to complete each of these courses. The programme also has 4 Ability Enhancement and Skill Enhancement courses, each of four credit weightage (2 courses each). These require a total of 120 hours (4 × 30) of study time.

Candidates with:at least fifty percent marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree and/or in the Master’s Degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/Commerce/Humanity. Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto,and

b) The following categories are eligible to be students of B.Ed. (ODL):

(i)         Trained in-service teachers in elementary education.

(ii)        Candidates who have completed a NCTE recognized teacher education programme through face-to-face mode.

The reservation and relaxation of 5% marks in minimum eligibility will be provided to SC/ST/OBC (Non creamy layer)/PWD candidates as per the rules of the Central Government.

Reservation to Kashmiri Migrants and war widow candidates will be provided as per the University Rules.

ADMISSION
Admission shall be done on the basis of the score obtained in the entrance test conducted by IGNOU all over India.
The candidate will be required to submit the filled-in application form with self-attested copies of documents as specified in Entrance-cum-Admission Form. The original documents are to be submitted later for verification, after receiving offer letter for admission.

ENTRANCE TEST
The Entrance Test will be held on the date mentioned in the advertisement. Hall tickets will be uploaded on the IGNOU website; www.ignou.ac.in to appear in the Entrance Test.
Mere allowing candidates to take the Entrance Test would not amount to acceptance of their eligibility for admission to B.Ed. The final admission to the programme shall be subject to their rank in the merit list in the Entrance Test and production of proof of their eligibility at the time of last date of submission of application for admission to B.Ed. programme along with original certificates and programme fee.

The number of seats of each PSC is limited to 50 only. The university reserves the right to conduct the examination at different centers/change the examination centre of the candidates without assigning any reason thereof.

Over the years there have been tremendous changes in the field of library and information science due to the development of information communication technologies, particularly computer and communication technologies, storage technologies and multimedia technology. These developments are changing the traditional face and concepts of all kinds of libraries and information institutions. The University, therefore, felt the need for accommodating new developments in the course contents of the BLIS Programme, already in operation, to meet the challenge of the changing needs. Looking at the tremendous demand for the BLIS Programme and the changing scenario of the library and information activities, the BLIS Programme was completely revised and offered in 2000. Library and Information Science (LIS) as a discipline is undergoing paradigmatic changes amidst the technological revolution in society. The networked society requires instant access to information. User needs have undergone a sea change. LIS professionals need to update and reorient themselves to serve their users in this changing scenario.LIS schools should also update their curricula to prepare professionals to equip themselves to face these changes. It is in this context that IGNOU once again updated its BLIS Programme in 2014.

The Work-based BBA programme in Services Management offered by IGNOU’s School of Management Studies is a result of a partnership with Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Ltd. (MKCL). The School’s aim is to provide education, experience and earnings simultaneously to enthusiastic young professionals who are passionate about a career in the expanding services industry. The MoU between the two organizations has led to the development and implementation of this unique initiative. Upon finishing the program, the individual will obtain a work experience verification from the company and a BBA diploma from IGNOU. The educational structure will entail work-based e-learning, with counselling provided by industry specialists.

Three types of courses are included in this programme, as the focus of this programme is on ability enhancement & work-based learning as well as on making students employable. The details of the different categories of courses are:

Eligibility:

The job requires Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives (aka RNRM) who have completed their 10+2 and a three-year Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM), and have a minimum of two years experience in the field (after becoming registered as RNRM). However, for male nurses who did not complete midwifery in their GNM program, they must hold a certificate from any of the Nursing courses of 6-9 months prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council instead of midwifery. OR Nurses who are currently employed (RNRM) and have completed 10th grade or its equivalent are eligible if they have also finished a three-year General Nursing and Midwifery Diploma (GNM) and have at least five years of experience in the field after registering as RNRM. With regard to male nurses who did not study midwifery in the GNM program, they must have a six to nine-month certificate in any of the nursing courses prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery. The degree programme of Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing has been approved for preparation and launch. 

IGNOU has prepared and launched of Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing degree programme by agreed upon by IGNOU, at the request of the Indian Nursing Council. The need for this was felt as the pace of providing higher education to working nurses was very slow due to the shortage of Colleges of Nursing and the paucity of seats available in each at that time. As per the New National Policy of Education

Programme Structure
The University follows the credit system in all its programmes. One credit is equal to 30 hours of learners’ study time which is equivalent to 15 lectures in a conventional system.
