JELET 2027 Eligibility Criteria: Candidates applying for JELET 2027 must meet the prescribed eligibility requirements related to citizenship, age, educational qualifications, and category. JELET 2027 is a lateral scheme for admission to the second or third semester of the college. These are candidates who have a diploma and want to study for engineering or other degree programs.
WBJEE will conduct the entrance exam for these candidates. Candidates must secure the required marks to be eligible for admission. You must also know that some colleges have more stringent requirements than the JELET 2027 requirements we have covered in this article.

JELET 2027 Exam Date
The exam is tentatively conducted in June 2027, and the date will be announced when the official notification is released by WBJEE 2027. You can check the minimum qualifications and age limit to appear for the JELET 2027 entrance test.
Citizenship
The applicant must be a citizen of India.
Age Limit
The age criteria vary according to the candidate’s qualifying examination:
- Diploma holders in Engineering/Technology, D.Voc. and Pharmacy: There is no upper age limit.
- B.Sc. candidates: The upper age limit is 27 years as on December 31, 2027.
- Diploma holders in Marine Engineering: The upper age limit is 25 years as on December 31, 2027.
JELET 2027 Eligibility Criteria for Admission to Engineering and Technology Degree Courses
For Diploma Holders
Candidates seeking admission to Engineering and Technology degree courses through lateral entry must fulfil any one of the following qualifications:
Diploma
Passed a minimum three-year diploma or two-year lateral-entry diploma examination with at least 45% marks. Candidates belonging to the reserved categories must have at least 40% marks.
The diploma can be in any branch of Engineering and Technology as specified in the relevant AICTE Approval Process Handbook.
OR
B.Sc. Degree
Passed a B.Sc. degree from a UGC-recognised university with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category candidates) and passed the 10+2 examination with Mathematics as a subject.
OR
B.Voc./D.Voc.
Passed a B.Voc. or three-year D.Voc. programme in the same or an allied sector, as specified in the relevant AICTE guidelines.
Universities may offer suitable bridge courses, such as Mathematics, Physics and Engineering Drawing, to students coming from different academic backgrounds.
Reserved Category
For the above eligibility criteria, the reserved categories include:
SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B and PwD.
Special JELET 2027 Eligibility Criteria for Jadavpur University
Candidates seeking admission to Jadavpur University through lateral entry must secure at least:
- 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in the Diploma examination for general candidates.
- 45% marks or equivalent CGPA for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD candidates.
D.Voc. candidates are not eligible for admission to Jadavpur University through lateral entry.
The information bulletin also states that any changes in the admission criteria will be notified separately.
Marine Engineering
For admission to the Degree Course in Marine Engineering, all relevant norms of the Directorate General of Shipping (D.G. Shipping) will apply.
Eligibility for B.Sc./B.Voc. Candidates
B.Sc. and B.Voc. candidates seeking admission to Engineering and Technology degree courses must meet the following requirements:
- They must have passed a B.Sc. or B.Voc. degree from a UGC-recognised university with at least 45% marks. For SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD candidates, the minimum requirement is 40% marks.
- B.Sc. candidates must have passed the Class 12 examination with Mathematics as a subject.
- After admission, candidates will have to clear Engineering Mechanics and Engineering Graphics/Engineering Drawing of the first-year Engineering/Technology degree course along with their second-year subjects.
- B.Sc./B.Voc. candidates will be considered for admission only after the available seats are filled with eligible Diploma-holding candidates, subject to the availability of vacancies.
- B.Sc./B.Voc. candidates cannot seek admission to the Degree Course in Pharmacy.
- B.Sc./B.Voc. candidates are not eligible for lateral-entry admission to Jadavpur University.
Admission to First-Year Engineering Courses
Both B.Sc. candidates and Diploma holders in Engineering and Technology may also be considered for admission to the first year of Engineering degree courses, subject to vacancies. This provision applies when the seats available for lateral entry into the second year have been exhausted. Admission will continue to be governed by the prescribed eligibility criteria.

JELET 2027 Eligibility Criteria for Pharmacy Degree Course
Diploma holders in Pharmacy seeking admission to the Degree Course in Pharmacy must satisfy the following conditions:
- The candidate must have passed a Diploma in Pharmacy from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) under Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.
- The candidate must have secured at least 45% marks or equivalent CGPA.
- For SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD candidates, the minimum requirement is 40% marks or equivalent CGPA.
Such candidates may also be considered for admission to the first year of the Pharmacy degree course, subject to availability of seats if the lateral-entry seats in the second year have been exhausted. Admission will be governed by the eligibility conditions mentioned above and any subsequent notification issued by the Pharmacy Council of India.
