The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection IBPS is an independent organization. Except for the SBI, it administers recruitment exams to all public sector banks. It has also offered services in the past about evaluation and testing for various banks using different bank exams.
A board of nominees from various government agencies and banks, including the RBI, Ministry of Finance, IIT Mumbai, NIBM, and IBA, oversees the Institute. It was established in 1984 from the National Institute of Bank Management’s original examination body. In the same year, a limited number of public sector banks began to administer the centralized exams for recruitment. In the late 2000s, the entire process was done online.
