Chartered Accountancy Course – How To Become a CA?

Before you start your journey for CA, prepare your mind for CA. It demands full dedication, it is not tough but hard work is a must.

One should be regular in his/her studies. Daily revision and practice make it easy for you to clear CA exams.

How long it takes to complete the CA course?

It depends on the calibre and dedication of the students pursuing CA to clear in the first attempt.

Generally, it takes them 5 years to complete the CA course. In 2006, the ICAI launched the three-level of these courses.

CPT( Common Proficiency Test)

1. First of all, you have to register for your entrance exam which is CPT at our Indian Institute for CA (ICAI). There are two attempts for this in a year in June and another in December.

Students have to select their attempt and fill out the form accordingly. For June attempts forms are available from January. You can also fill out the form online which saves you cost and time. You will get a link at the ICAI website for online filling.

foundation course involves the quantitative aptitude test, general economics, mercantile laws and accounting.

IPCC(Integrated Professional Competence Course)

2 Next level- after passing out CPT register Intermediate level which is IPCC. It has two groups with 7 subjects. You can give both groups individually as well as combined according to your calibre.

It covers the working knowledge of the core subjects. It is specially designed to improve the knowledge of accounting standards.

Final Course

3. After clearing IPCC comes the final year and it starts with your Articleship which is for 3 years. You get trained under a CA, choosing of CA for training according to the choice of the student. During these 3 years, you can start your preparation for your final level but you can give the exam only after 2.5 years of article-ship.

The GMCS (General Management and Communication Skill Course) is the 15 days mandatory training course introduced in 2003.

Who can Apply

The students who had cleared their 12, can go for a foundation-level test conducted by the ICAI. After passing the group 1st, the students have to undergo the on-job the training period of 3 years called “article-ship” with an audit or accounts firm.

Chartered Accountancy subjects, mostly deal with studies such as budget planning, market research, planning of policies, management of working capital of the organization, etc.
