FMGE a screening test for MBBS Graduates which is conducted twice a year in Jan and July sessions.
FMGE a Screening test is conducted to award a license permanent or provisional to practice in India for MBBS degree holders from outside India. They are Indian Citizens of OCI who obtains the MBBS degree overseas.

FMGE – FMEG stands for Foreign Medical Graduates Examination. It is a licensure examination conducted by the National Board of Examinations in India.
FMGE was introduced in the year 2002. Hence candidates who had completed their primary degree course on or before March 15, 2002, would not be required to appear for this examination. It’s not an entrance examination, but a licensing examination for foreign medical graduates. Its validity cannot be used to take admission to any institute.
- For whom the examination is mandatory?
A medical degree from India is well-recognized. It is considered equivalent to the international standards. Hence, students holding MBBS degrees from China, Russia, Ukraine and Nepal etc. are required to clear this examination.
- Exemptions:
Candidates who have completed their medical qualification from the countries given below and are eligible to enrol as a medical country in that respective country, then they would not be required to appear for FMGE registration:
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Canada
- United Kingdom
- United States of America
Eligibility Criteria:
- Candidates must be Indians or Overseas citizens of India.
- Candidates must have valid medical qualifications approved by the Indian embassy.
- The primary medical qualification must be attained before the last week of November 2020 and documentary evidence must be there of having passed the final examination.

- Copy of date of birth proof
- Copy of passport
- Copy of MBBS pass certificate by Embassy
- Two photographs
- Copy of 10th and 12th certificates and mark sheets
- Copy of eligibility criteria issued by Medical Council of India
- Copy of internship certificate

The total examination fee is Rs. 6,490
- The application fee can be submitted online through debit, credit card and net banking.
- The application fee is non – refundable in nature.

- Important documents to carry during the FMGE examination:
- Candidates must carry FMGE Admit Card with the photo.
- Bring Id proof along with the admit card. Aspirants must take a printout of the admit card to be used for further procedures.
- For the Part A exam, entry into the examination hall will begin at 7 AM and will end by 8: 30 AM, whereas for the Part B exam, entry into the examination hall will begin at 12 PM and will end by 1: 30 PM
- FMGE Examination Instructions:
- A transparent water bottle is allowed.
- Stationery items like books, notes, writing pads, pens, erasers, and geometry boxes will not be allowed.
- Eatables and beverages will not be allowed.
- Electronic items like calculators, mobile phones, earphones, smartwatches, and Bluetooth will not be allowed.
- Personal items like wallets, belts, goggles, caps and handbags will not be allowed.
- FMGE result information:
Candidates will be able to check the result online by entering login details. The printout of results must be taken out to be further used during the admission process.
- FMGE Provisional Registration:
- Candidates who would qualify FMGE examination would be able to register for the secretary of the medical council of India, New Delhi or any other state of India.
- Candidates would need to pay requisite registration fees.
- Candidates will enrol for a 1-year internship after clearing the FMGE examination.
- After completion of the internship, candidates will be able to get registered under MCI.
